| Gas (Flatulence) |
All mammals have friendly bacteria residing in the intestines to help the digestive breakdown process and prevent diarrhea and gas (flatulence). These symptoms also can result when the bacterial balance is normal but meals are too large, overwhelming the digestive bacteria and enzymes. Inefficient digestion and, again, excessive fluid and gas are the result.
If your animal has a deficiency of digestive enzymes, its a simple matter to replace them. Heres our home remedy for intestinal bacteria imbalance. Give your animal plain, organic, low-fat or nonfat live-culture yogurt, which contains the friendly bacteria acidophilus. |

Large Dog (35-84 lb) 2 Tbsp |

Giant Dog (85+ lb) 3 Tbsp |

Give the appropriate amount with each meal. A main cause of low levels of friendly bacteria is antibiotics, so always feed yogurt when your animal is on antibiotics. Also, putting one or two cloves of freshly chopped garlic in the food helps purify the intestinal tract and remove the mucus buildup from poor diets. Another option is Lactobacillus acidophilus capsules Give with each meal. |

If your animals gas is due to indigestion from too-large meals, cut the meals into smaller portions, and feed them at intervals throughout the day. If the gas is severe, youll get faster results if you start with a fasting period. Click here to view product
An abrupt change in your animals diet also can cause gas. Believe it or not, even if you bought the same brand of pet food that you always buy, you may have changed your animals diet without realizing it. Some of the larger commercial pet food producers shop around for the cheapest ingredients whenever they make a new batch of food. The overall nutritional analysis of the food may stay the same, but some of the ingredients may have changed. We recommend that you choose a brand that is free of chemical preservatives and colors, with consistent ingredients. |
