| Licking/Lick Sores (Granulomas) |
KennExcessive licking can lead to a hot spot and then to a nonhealing raw spot. Your animal can actually lick off all the fur and create a raw spot on the skin. If you see your animal continuously working on a spot, the first step is to stop the licking.
Your veterinarian may place your animal on a short course of cortisone to put a halt to the self-trauma. An Elizabethan collar will also keep your animal from doing further damage. Ask your veterinarian about this, or you can make your own by cutting the bottom out of a lightweight plastic container and attaching it (bottom side first) to the collar. Now you can take care of the skin irritation directly. Try these natural products. |
