| Motion Sickness |
Whether its from fear or dizziness, some cats and dogs invariably get sick when traveling in a car. The symptoms can include quivering, drooling or outright vomiting. Its not only unpleasant for the others in the car, but the poor animal is miserable, too. To add insult to injury, a travel-phobic cat may constantly meow, cry and yowl from the start of the trip to the finish.
Many veterinarians recommend a tranquilizer. Were reluctant to endorse this approach, for three reasons. First, in most cases the tranquilizer lasts three to four times longer than the trip. Second, in some animals, the tranquilizer releases their inhibitions, making them act downright schizophrenic. We strongly recommend starting one of the rescue formulas before and during travel or any stressful activity. Rescue Remedy is probably the best known and easiest to find in health-food stores. We have seen outstanding results with Recovery Formula, one of a line of animal-specific flower essences from Anaflora.
