Overweight
Animals gain weight for any number of reasons. As with people, the wrong food and not enough exercise will add pounds seemingly overnight. Taking your animal for a walk every morning and evening is a good start at reversing the trend, and it will be good for both of you!

Many commercial pet foods are extremely high in fat, and the type of fat used has been based upon cost and economics rather than nutrition or health. Once ingested, highly saturated fats are stored rather than burned for energy. The result: your animal gains weight.

• Switch to a senior or “lite” formulated, naturally preserved food. See Chapter 1 for the “skinny” on a healthy diet for your dog and cat.
Give vitamin B6, at the following dose:
Cat/Small Dog (1-14 lb) 25 mg twice daily
Medium Dog (15-34 lb) 25 mg twice daily
Large/Giant Dog (35+ lb) 50 mg twice daily
Offer organic apple cider vinegar in a separate bowl of drinking water at this dose:
Cat/Small Dog (1-14 lb) 1/2 tsp daily
Medium Dog (15-34 lb) 1 tsp daily
Large/Giant Dog (35+ lb) 11/2 tsp daily
